Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some common questions we get, along with some useful info.

What’s the difference between “Video Assist” and “VTR Operator”?

They are one in the same, it just depends on who you talk to. VTR, which stands for Video Tape Operator, is the term used more by agencies in certain parts fo the country, while Video Assist tends to be more episodic tv or feature films. They are really just two titles meaning the same role on-set.

What areas do you serve?

Most times the Camera Department just provides wireless transmitters (e.g., Teradek) providing signal out of the camera. But we can provide everything you need from transmitters all the way to Scientific Flanders monitors.

What about remote client viewing?

We can securely stream your production to any location worldwide or to your preferred platform, ensuring remote teams stay in sync. It could be as simple as a Zoom call to something complex like remote-recording so your Editor can get started with a rough cut even before the Director yells, “CUT!”

What additional benefits does Video Assist offer?

Beyond real-time monitoring and playback, services, we can effortlessly show real-time two-layer compositing with various blend modes, blue/greenscreen keying, and custom aspect ratios (for those Social shoots).
